Trefriw Woolen Mill

Well i have been super busy over the last few weekends, last weekend i spent a couple of hours in Trefriw Woolen Mill in the Welsh village of Conwy. What a beautiful and refreshing place this is, definitely worth a visit if you are in the area! I met a lady who demonstrated the traditional ways of spinning yarn from wool on an old spinning wheel, and spent ages looking at all of the beautiful gifts she had handcrafted using traditional methods. Then into the actual woolen mill, you can see the whole process from raw materials to the finished products in the gift shop, they sold a lovely array of woolen cushions, georgous coats, bags and many other fabulous treats. Upstairs in the mill there is still a traditional working factory environment with all of the old machinery, weaving fabulous fabrics and yarns, and you get to see it all happening right there in front of you! I took some fabulous photographs that will be going up onto the wall in my sewing room, i hope you like them! Here you can see some of the traditional work, including the old method of spinning yarn on a wheel, and also the plant gardens used to dye the fabrics naturally. Inside the woolen mill Vicky xxx
